Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Bookxie mobile application ("the app", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Bookxie. By using the app you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Your account

• You sign in via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You may not share your account or use another person's account without permission.
• You may delete your account at any time by emailing hello@bookxie.com.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of all EPUB files, highlights, notes, and vocabulary cards you create ("Your Content"). By uploading content to Bookxie you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process it solely to provide the service to you.

We will not access, use, or share Your Content except as described in our Privacy Policy or as required by law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
• Upload content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, its servers, or any related systems.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app.
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the app.
• Transmit malware, viruses, or any other harmful code.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the app or its services.

5. Third-party services

Bookxie integrates with third-party services (Supabase, Google Sign-In, Google Generative AI, Google Translate). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of those third parties.

6. Intellectual property

The Bookxie name, logo, app design, and all original content within the app (excluding Your Content) are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand features.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which may be zero for a free app).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bookxie and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the app, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time. Sections 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of India, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be surfaced inside the app on next launch.
